The SMARCTIVE 2.0 will be a Shunt-Adaptive active filter with artificial intelligence (AI) that will offer several advantages over one with fixed algorithms.
With a fixed algorithm, the filter requires initial setup to determine what problem it needs to solve, such as which harmonics to filter out, how much of its total capacity to devote to mitigating harmonics, how much to improve power factor, and how much to avoid voltage unbalance.
In contrast, the SMARCTIVE 2.0 being an AI-driven APF can perform self-diagnosis, modifying these parameters and ratios dynamically in real time based on changes in load conditions and the electrical system to which it is connected.
SMARCTIVE version 3.0 will have the capability to query and store data on changes in the power system pattern during weekends and holidays, as well as weather changes such as temperature, rain, humidity and atmospheric pressure.
Thus the system can anticipate and correct any power quality problems that may arise due to changes in the system load pattern and external factors. This ensures reliable and continuous production lines, and reduces corrective and preventive maintenance costs.
The SMARCTIVE 3.0 can also issue preventive maintenance alerts for electrical equipment by monitoring power quality in real time, detecting any problems that may be caused by equipment failure. This allows maintenance personnel to take corrective action before any damage occurs, reducing maintenance service costs.
Finally, by having SMARCTIVEs 3.0 at different points of the load and a PCC measurement communicated via IoT, in addition to the other advantages, the IoT communication system can also help APFs maximize the power quality of production lines, while meeting minimum grid code requirements by monitoring and controlling the power quality at the point of common coupling (PCC) with the utility grid. This is important for industrial facilities to avoid penalties for non-compliance and to maintain a stable and reliable grid.
The SMARCTIVE 3.0 will use the IoT system to differentiate internal from external power quality issues and report any problems or faults to the maintenance team in real time, enabling rapid response and minimizing downtime.
In summary, the combination of artificial intelligence and IoT communication in our SMARCTIVE filters offers a powerful solution to maintain high power quality and reduce costs in industrial facilities. It ensures compliance with grid code requirements, maximizes equipment reliability and minimizes downtime.
